What it plugs into

Electric, hybrid or petrol. NMEA 2000 and CAN.

BoatPlay reads Signal K and NMEA 0183 / 2000 data and talks CAN to its own switching node. The data model is documented and versioned, and a bench simulator plays whole scenarios — a full day on the water, a low battery with no way home, a man overboard — so integration is tested before a hull exists.

The safety rules are not negotiable and are part of the licence: read-only on the propulsion bus, no software-in-the-loop cutoff, protection in hardware. Your electrical engineer signs off the failsafe state of every switching node. Read the safety architecture.
