BoatPlayMission modes

One tap. The whole boat set for what you are doing.

A mission mode is a recipe applied once over the systems you already have. Your own adjustments afterwards survive, and the recipe can never touch propulsion, never switch the bilge pump off and never mutes an alarm.

Six chips on the top bar

Fish, Cruise, Dock, Anchor, Away — and a Night layer.

The mode row sits in the Helm’s top bar and at the top of the phone’s Home tab: six glove-sized chips. Entering a mode shows a quiet three-second toast directly below the alarm banner, so it can never paint over it.

FISHFishing setup — livewell, deck lighting and the cockpit view.
CRUISEUnderway setup — nav instruments, underway audio and the chart.
DOCKDocking setup — the stern camera and the instruments view.
ANCHORAnchored setup — anchor watch and a quiet helm.
AWAYAway setup — the boat watched from the cloud, non-essentials dark.
NIGHTA layer over Fish or Cruise — red-shifted helm, dimmed shell.
What a recipe does

Applied once. Your adjustments survive.

A mode is a declarative recipe applied over the systems you already have: circuits pre-armed on the switching page, the alarm threshold profile swapped, the display set. It is applied once on entry and never re-applied, so anything you change afterwards stays changed. The active mode survives a reload and is published on the boat’s data bus, so the phone and the Helm always agree.

Away over the cloud

From the phone away from the boat only Away and Anchor can be entered; the rest answer “Be aboard to enter this mode”.

Night

Night is a layer over Fish or Cruise, not a mode of its own: the helm goes red-shifted on near-black and the shell dims, and the fishing or underway setup underneath stays as it was.

Guard rails

What a recipe can never do.

  • Never touch propulsionA recipe cannot contain a propulsion path. The type system, the recipe validator and the tests all refuse it.
  • Never command a critical circuitIt can pre-arm the two-tap confirm on the switching page; it cannot flip the circuit itself.
  • Never switch the bilge pump offWhatever the mode, the bilge pump stays as it is.
  • Never mute an alarmModes swap alarm threshold profiles; they cannot silence alarm audio.

Try the modes on the live demo.

The demo runs the real Helm on a simulated day — tap a chip and watch the boat change setup.
